Many pregnant women take in several times for the sole purpose of having a particular sex as a child. Each parent has a part to play in the genetics of a child. They each contribute half of a baby’s genetic makeup.

The mother is genetically an XX, so she can only contribute an X to the future baby. The father of the baby is XY and can contribute either an X or a Y. This basically mean that sperm is the deciding factor of the baby’s sex. Over 200 million sperm are ejaculated into the vagina during intercourse, a mixture of X and Y. Most likely only one will be the one to penetrate the ovum.

Are you hoping to get pregnant with a boy? Here are some tips to help you get pregnant with a boy. Maybe they are old wives’ tales, or maybe they’re true.

First, you must know your menstrual cycle and chart it using your basal body temperature (BBT) charts. Sounds obvious, but when you are trying to conceive, it is a good idea to know when you are ovulating. Ovulation predictor kits are now widely available at drugs and grocery stores everywhere.

When you know your ovulation period then you can have sex with your partner as close to ovulation as possible. Fun Fact? Male sperm are the faster swimmers, but sadly they die super-fast.  Female sperm can hang around for a while and take their time getting to the egg. By having sex as close to ovulation as possible, you will give your little guys (ha!) a head start! This increases the chance that a male sperm will reach the egg first.

Switch up your style of intercourse. Making love in a position which allows deep penetration, such as the doggy style, will make sure that the sperm is released as closely to the cervix as possible, which favours the male sperm cells. This means the end of missionary for a while. Deeper penetration will “deposit” those little sperm guys closer to the uterus, giving them far less distance to travel and a better chance of “winning!”

Your diet may also influence your body’s pH levels and this may increase your chance of getting pregnant with a boy. Increase your intake of alkaline foods such as brown rice, sweet potatoes, carrots, garden egg, cucumbers, all green leafy vegetables such as cabbages and salads. Basically reduce your consumption of acidic food because alkaline environment provides a suitable environment for the male sperm.

Orgasm is another one of the things that helps produce a more alkaline environment that is conducive to producing boys! This is highly prescribed by the Shettles Method of gender selection as well. So, sweetheart, have an orgasm when you are trying to conceive a boy.

It is also believed that taking a cup of coffee before sex can help you increase your chances of getting pregnant with a boy. Maybe the caffeine gets those little guys swimming faster? You never know!

For an increased chance of getting pregnant with a boy, Shettles recommends that the male partner try to keep his testicles cool. A lower scrotal temperature is good for sperm in general, but male sperm will get a greater benefit than the more resistant female sperm. Use boxer shorts instead of briefs, avoid tight clothing in general, and avoid hot baths, saunas and heated car seats.

So there you have it ladies, some tips to get pregnant with a male child. Will they work? Who knows, but they will sure be fun to try.

Children are a gift to you and whether male or female, they still bring joy to a family. Whichever one you end up with, just be grateful. Remember to use Pregnacare CONCEPTION and Pregnacare HIS&HER CONCEPTION when trying for a baby. See you in the next post.
